When everyone else leaves, recovery is just beginning.

Our story

On August 1, 2026, our home burned in the Old Trails Fire in Spokane. Like thousands of others, we now face what will likely be a years-long journey of rebuilding.

Here's what we've already learned: when disaster strikes, this community shows up in force. The first days and weeks bring an incredible outpouring of support. But as the headlines fade and people return to their normal lives, the victims of these disasters slowly start to feel forgotten.

Insurance addresses the material needs — the structure, the essentials. But there's a gap no claim covers: the things that made life feel like yours. Children's toys. Art supplies. Musical instruments. The family games that filled your evenings. The small things that make us human.

That's the foundation we're building. And while it began with our own fire, our vision is much bigger: long-term recovery support for individuals and families affected by future disasters and community crises throughout the Inland Northwest.

Our plan

We plan to raise money primarily by putting on art events and recreational events across the Inland Northwest — art shows and markets, fun runs, tournaments, and community gatherings — where all proceeds go toward grants for current and future families struggling in the aftermath of disaster.

It's a model that fits who we are. Madison is a local artist, and Spokane's creative community is one of its greatest strengths. Every event we put on doubles as a chance for neighbors to come together — which is the whole point.
